Strong Racers Presence in Lausanne

By August 19, 2012 No Comments

A strong presence of Racers athletes will grace the next stop on the Diamond League tour, the Athletissima Lausanne, next Thursday 23 August. Leading the charge will be the two fastest men at the recent Olympics in London — Usain Bolt and Yohann Blake, who will run in separate races.

Blake has opted for the 100 metres where he will face Olympic runners-up Justin Gatlin, Tyson Gay and Ryan Bailey (all of the USA) as well as Trinidad and Tobago’s Richard Thompson. He will also be joined by two of his world record-setting Jamaican relay team-mates Michael Frater and Nesta Carter.

Bolt runs in the 200 metres, where he leads a phalanx of four men from Racers Track Club; the others are Warren Weir (third fastest in the world this year), Jason Young (fourth fastest) and Marvin Anderson. They will join Olympic finalists Wallace Spearmon (USA), Churandy Martina (NED) and Alex Quinonez (ECU) as well as Jamaican colleague Nickel Ashmeade.
