The three members of Racers Track Club who are representing Jamaica in the men’s 200 metres at the 2012 London Olympics all progressed from the first-round heats Tuesday morning. All three won their heats comfortably while running quite conservatively. In each case, they came into the straight ahead of the field then let their momentum carry them across the line.

Usain Bolt won heat 1 in 20.39 seconds (wind 0.9 m/s); the second-place finisher did 20.53. Yohan Blake won heat 4 in 20.38 (wind 0.0); second place finished in 20.52. Warren Weir won heat 5 in 20.29 (wind -0.4) — the second fastest time of the morning; his nearest pursuer crossed the line in 20.59.

In Wednesday’s semi-finals, Blake will run in the first of three heats out of lane 4; his main rival will be the USA’s Wallace Spearmon, who will run from lane 7. Usain Bolt runs in the second heat out of lane 6. Warren Weir will also run out of lane 6 in the third heat, just behind his main threat Churandy Martina of the Netherlands.
