Fresh from their bright start to the running season at the Camperdown Classic two weeks ago, athletes from Racers Track Club are gearing up for another outing this Saturday 23 February at the prestigious Gibson Relays at Jamaica’s National Stadium in Kingston. Information received from sources connected to the management of the meet indicates that the club has entered both male and female teams for the 4×100 and 4×400 metres relays.
In the Women 4×400 metres for Clubs and Institutions one team has been entered from Racers. In the 4×100 metres in the same category, there is a team entered under the name Racers and another under the name Racers Lions.
On the men’s side, there is a team called Racers Lions as well as a Racers team entered for the 4×400 metres relay. The record here is 3:04.16 and was set in 2004 by a team from the High Performance Centre at a time when both Usain Bolt and Jermaine Gonzales were trainees at the centre. In the 4×100 metres, there are similarly teams entered as Racers and as Racers Lions. The record in this event stands at 38.08 and was set in 2010 by a Racers Lions team made up of Kenroy Anderson, Yohan Blake, Marvin Anderson and Usain Bolt.
In the individual events, Brandon Tomlinson from Racers is among the contestants listed.
