Last season should have been Bobby-Gaye Wilkins’ come-back season. It was her first season with Racers Track Club since a two-year enforced absence from the sport. However, on the verge of her first competitive race, her season was derailed by an injury.
For Bobby-Gaye, last season was a huge disappointment. She had hoped to test herself after a year of being reunited with her former schoolmate Rosemarie Whyte. But, as she says, “The past is the past.” Nothing daunted, she has decided to fix her sights firmly on the future. The near future: 2013. Naturally, for the coming season her main hope is to remain injury-free. Once she can do that, she has high hopes of lowering her personal best. That should be good enough to get her back on the Jamaican team for the World Championships.
In spite of her disappointment, she has nothing but gratitude for the Racers family for providing the supportive environment to put her back on track. To which we say: “Go, Bobby-Gaye. We’ll be cheering for you all the way.”
