Jamaica’s team of Nesta Carter, Michael Frater, Yohan Blake and Kemar Bailey-Cole qualified Friday for the final of the men’s 4×100 metres relay by easily winning the first of two heats. Blake and Bailey-Cole are members of Racers Track Club. The winning time was 37.39 seconds: the fourth fastest time in history at the time it was run. However, this time was surpassed by one-hundredth of a second by the USA in winning the second heat.
Only a day after his 200 metres silver medal run, Blake ran on the third leg — the same leg he ran in Jamaica’s winning run at Daegu last year. Bailey-Cole, in his first Olympic appearance, ran the final leg.
In Saturday’s final,it is expected that Bailey-Cole will be replaced by Usain Bolt: another member of Racers Track Club.
